Frontpage article for Monday, 20 June, 2016: Jack Rollack murdered at Summer GalaJack Rollack Murdered - The Bastion.pdf (541.55 KB) by Leonora Quinn Gossip Columnist Jack Rollack, Manhattan’s very own philanthropist, has died in a brutal murder at last night’s Summer Gala. The wealthy entrepreneur had been giving a speech to the assembled guests of the Summer Gala. The speech thanked the audience and Jack Rollack mentioned several of the guests by name and their contributions to him and the city of Manhattan, as well as referring to his upbringing in Manhattan and his own philanthropic support and love for his home city. As the speech drew to a close, he fell from the stage clutching his chest which was quickly revealed to be a bleeding wound. Several guests rushed forward in an attempt to save Jack Rollack, including the two off-duty detectives present and Solomon Locke. Solomon Locke’s efforts were aided by two other guests, Dr Vladmir and Dr Viktor Wells. Despite their best efforts, Jack Rollack was unable to be resuscitated or stabilised and was confirmed dead. It was later confirmed that Jack Rollack was shot three times, as well as poisoned. He was 43. None of the guests who were spoken to were able to identify who shot Jack Rollack. As attention by most of the guests had been focussed on Jack Rollack’s speech. As yet, no one had been taken into custody. However, the lead suspect is a lady known as Teresa who was present at the Summer Gala as Jack Rollack’s bodyguard. She was last seen guarding the back doors of the event hall before disappearing. Another suspect is being considered, but as yet no charges have been placed. The attending guests were asked to remain within the building by the detectives for questioning. Guests were then asked to provide names and any relationship they may have had with Jack Rollack. The detectives declined to give a comment at this point in time. When guests were told they were released to go home, the face of Omnidyne, Dr Chelsea Charles, graciously announced that her company would be covering all taxi fares home and to contact Omnidyne to sort payment out. Dr Chelsea Charles also expressed her condolences in the matter, “It is a great shame and Omnidyne will do everything in their power to restore Manhattan to its former greatness.” According to members of the Junior League, the off-duty detectives were made aware of a potential threat to Jack Rollack’s life that was ignored. Jack Rollack’s life began in the Industrial District and his upbringing was no stranger to poverty. However, he quickly rose out of the Industrial District to become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Manhattan, a master of commerce and business management. As with any quick success story, Jack Rollack’s life was dogged with many malicious rumours. Including the persistent suggestion that Jack Rollack was also the crime boss known as the Kingpin. The Kingpin’s domain is known to have stretched over all of Manhattan and through-out the North of America. If this rumour is true, it is likely to be the first step in a power struggle that may not resolve for years to come.

2nd page article for Monday, 26 July, 2016: Civilians trapped in the Industrial District
Several civilians and police sought refuge at Dr. Angela Morits' clinic this Saturday after they were caught in the crossfire in the Industrial District. The civilians remained trapped inside for three hours, at one point fending off attackers when the escalating situation outside broke the clinic's defenses.
They were eventually rescued by a team of police and IPA heroes. The IPA Heroes were aided by parahumans inside who were temporarily deputised by Bertram Crawford, a member of the IPA board. Together both teams cleared a path, allowing those in the clinic to escape to safety.
Of the civilians and police that were escorted out, five were reported to have major and minor injuries.
